NCRPO lowers alert status to heightened after Sulu blasts
July 2, 2019
Three days after blasts in Sulu where eight persons died, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) downgraded alert status in Metro Manila.
Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar, NCRPO chief, raised the alert status of Metro Manila to full after the twin blasts in Indanan, Sulu on June 28.
On Monday, Eleazar ordered it lowered to heightened alert status after conducting validation and consultation with other law enforcement agencies and military units regarding threat level within the National Capital Region.
“While the recent Jolo bombing case is being probe, we cannot relax our guard. Thus, all unit and station commanders are strictly reminded to continue to secure all PNP (Philippine National Police) headquarters and offices, vital installations, economic key points and places of convergence to guarantee that public safety concerns are checked and thoroughly supervised,” said Eleazar in a statement.
Eleazar reminded the public to remain alert and report any incident or suspicious person to the nearest police station in their community. Ella Dionisio/DMS
