NCRPO says two police officers test positive for illegal drugs
March 10, 2020
The chief of the National Capital Region Police Office ( NCRPO) on Tuesday said two more police officers tested positive for illegal drugs.
“We have conducted continuous drug test of our personnel so from January to date, we have already conducted 9, 500 random drug test. This is 40 percent of our actual strength,” said Police Major General Debold Sinas in a press briefing.
“For this year alone, eight PNP personnel were already tested positive and two from last year,” Sinas said.
Sinas said the latest police officers found positive were Patrolman Jess Ranin, assigned at Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB), and Police Staff Sergeant Danbeth Geronga, assigned at Caloocan City Police Station.
He said their random drug tests are based on the intelligence report they received on their personnel suspected of being involved in illegal drug activities.
“They are now included in the 10 (positive cops). They were already disarmed and assigned at the regional holding and accounting section (RPHAS) of NCRPO,” Sinas said.
“This is part of the continuing internal cleansing conducted by NCRPO to its personnel so that all our personnel will know that random drug test is still on. And we are confident based on the guidance of chief PNP (Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa), at least 100 percent of our personnel has undergo random drug test,” he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
