NCRPO to sack cops not following road clearing
July 29, 2019
The National Capital Region Police Office ( NCRPO) said cops who will not obey in implementing road clearing operations will be dismissed.
" If the mayors are against the illegal vendors and illegal gambling and the police refuses to clear them, it is easy for the police to be sacked from their position," NCRPO head Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar said in a press conference Monday.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno asked what sanctions will be filed against police personnel who refuse to follow the memorandum by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) which stated President Rodrigo Duterte's initiative to clear roads of illegal construction and obstructions.
Moreno pointed out police and persons who plan to resist the road clearning operations ''still exist.''
Eleazar said their personnel will follow all directives from mayors and will support clearing operations.
"The mayor is in tandem with the police. But when talking about political will, the mayor will always be followed. In my position as the regional director of NCRPO, I made it clear that whatever the mayor wants, as long as it is reasonable, we will follow the orders," Eleazar said.
Eleazar assured mayors and the DILG they will cooperate and support the local government units in accomplishing Duterte's initiative. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
