December 27, 2019

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday said they were able to seize around P23 million worth of illegal drugs during their simultaneous “one time big time operations” during the Christmas celebration.

In a press briefing, Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas, acting regional director of NCRPO, said a total of 240 police operations resulted in the arrest of 445 drug personalities and recovery of 3,493.03 kilos of shabu amounting to P23.752 million and 7,210.63 grams of marijuana worth P864, 835 from December 24 to 26.

Their operations were the result of Philippine National Police’s (PNP) officer-in-charge, Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa’s directive to focus on their targets.

“We enhance the operation,” Sinas said. “The guidance of the OIC ( Gamboa) is to focus the operation. Focus on whoever is the subject of the operation”.

The district with highest illegal drugs seized was the Northern Police District (NPD) with P10, 994, 104 followed by Southern Police District with P8, 323, 336; Quezon City Police District (QCPD) with P1, 980, 364; Eastern Police District (EPD) with P1, 260, 584; and Manila Police District (MPD) with P1, 194, 243.

According to Sinas, the arrested suspect in a checkpoint in Caloocan City was a drug courier.

“But he is not yet saying  who is his supplier),” he said.

Also, around 180 wanted suspects were arrested and 49 different loose firearms were confiscated which resulted in the arrest of 34 others during the  operations.

The operations were done through a Simultaneous Enhanced Managing Police Operations program against illegal drugs, loose firearms and wanted personalities. Ella Dionisio/DMS
