NCRPO to install biometric attendance system in all police stations

November 22, 2019

The acting director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday said he is aiming to use biometric attendance system in all police stations and offices in Metro Manila as it is effective in tracking personnel.

Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas, in a press briefing, said they installed seven biometrics inside Camp Bagong Diwa.

"I've done this when I was in (PNP) Crime Lab and in Police Regional Office (PRO) 7... I find this effective in tracking our personnel," Sinas said.

Sinas said the biometric system they have is open and closes from 7am to 9am for the time in and 5pm to 7pm for the time out.

"Once it closed and you were not able to login, you will be late and absent," he said. "They are forced to go on time," he said.

Because of their new system, they can find out who went out of the office without informing anyone.

Sinas said the system will only print the names of those who are late and absent every week.

CCTV cameras were also installed in areas where the biometrics was placed to prevent police officers from creating any excuses.

"There is a CCTVs so if they break it, we will file a case against them," Sinas said.

He said they are planning to do the same in all stations and offices.

"In the future... this will be effective for Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and Manila Police District (MPD)... we will start in district offices then in stations," he said.

Sinas said around 1,500 assigned in Camp Bagong Diwa will be part of the new system.

"No one is exempted unless you have an appearance... just attach your explanation letter including those who are in floating status," Sinas said.

Sinas said they are still on a trial period for biometrics and it will take full effect by December 1. Ella Dionisio/DMS>/strong>
