NCRPO to try clearing Baseco of drugs in a week
August 2, 2019
The National Capital Region Police Office ( NCRPO) is ready to cooperate with the directive of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to get rid of illegal drugs in the Baseco compound.
"You know Manila is one of the hotbeds in drug problem, as well as the whole Metro Manila because almost all barangays have depressed areas," said Police Major General Guillermo Eleazar, NCRPO chief, in a TV interview.
He said they will try everything to finish the drug problem in the area within a week.
"What we have to do really is to coordinate with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency ( PDEA) and other concerned agencies," he said.
Eleazar said their police operation in Manila continues and following the instruction of Moreno, they will deploy more personnel at the Baseco compound.
"We provide more muscle and more personnel to add up with the personnel conducting operations in Manila and in particular in Baseco," he said.
On Thursday, Moreno challenged the Philippine National Police and PDEA to clear Baseco compound of drugs within a week.
"If you don't clear Baseco of drugs, then there's no business for you to come here in the next council meeting. I'm giving you one week, PDEA, PNP," he said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
