NCRPO warns cops not to drink on duty as three caught
March 16, 2020
The chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday reminded cops to not drink while on duty after three personnel from the Southern Police District (SPD) were caught last Saturday.
Police Major General Debold Sinas said acting SPD chief Police Colonel Emmanuel Peralta reported that while he was doing his rounds in the district headquarters around 6pm he caught three cops drinking.
They were identified as Police Executive Master Sergeant Dennis Matriano, Police Corporal Misael Ruby and Police Staff Sergeant Marvin Hipolito.
"The mere fact that they are from Discipline, Law and Order Section, they are fully aware that drinking liquor while on duty and in uniform is already in violation of a provision of Napolcom Memo Circular 2007-001 that prohibits any police personnel to engage in regulated gambling or game of chance while on duty; to be drunk or disorderly while off duty, or drunk while on duty and in uniform or in recognizable police uniform,” Sinas said.
Confiscated were one Johnnie Walker Black Label (3 liters), two plates of "pulutan" (snack) and five glasses.
Sinas ordered three personnel to be disarmed and assigned to SPD control points.
The Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division is preparing to file appropriate administrative cases against them.
“This should serve as a warning to all. This is a clear act of disobedience and I will not tolerate this kind of action. I will assure that sanctions will be served. More inspections will continue in adherence to our Internal Cleansing Policy,” the NCRPO chief said. Ella Dionisio/DMS
