NEDA to publish ”hits and misses” of gov’t economic goals
July 23, 2019
National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Director General Ernesto Pernia on Tuesday said a socio-economic report will be published focusing on hits and misses of the Duterte administration, in relation to the development plans for the country.
In a press conference following President Rodrigo Duterte's fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA), Pernia said: "We are completing the socio-economic report which takes the score on the administration's performance in 2018 relative to our development plan 2017-2022."
"This socio-economic report looks at the accomplishments, the hits and the misses of the administration vis-a-vis the targets set out in the Philippine development plan in 2018," he added.
Pernia said the report will be a basis for a "midterm update" on the Philippine development plan.
"The midterm update plan will be produced on November so we can have a fresh start on what are the adjustments and needed on the basis of the accomplishments, the hits and the misses that were marked in 2018," he explained.
"So we can do better on the second half of the president's term," he said.
The report, which is set to be published by the end of the month or in early August, will also tackle the investments made by the Duterte administration on human capital, health, education, nutrition. It will include the employment and poverty data matrix.
Pernia also said NEDA will address some ongoing infrastructure projects under the administration.
He said they will look into infrastructure projects which needed to be further accelerated to finish by the end of Duterte's presidential term in 2022. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
