New COVID-19 cases surpass 2,000

New coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases on Friday soared past 2,000 for the first time since November 29.
The Department of Health said there were 2, 122 new COVID-19 cases, bringing total cases to 456, 562.
On November 29, new cases reached 2,076.
Active cases reached 27, 021, of which 84 percent were mild. Asymptomatic cases accounted for eight percent, critical 5.1 percent, severe 2.5 percent and moderate 0.31 percent.
Quezon City had the highest number of cases with 160, followed by Rizal Province 105, Bulacan 91, Makati 83, and Davao City 79.
Twenty five persons died from COVID-19, bringing total fatalities to 8,875.
There were 778 persons who overcame COVID-19, raising total recoveries to 420,666. DMS
