New NCRPO chief may appoint more women police chiefs
October 16, 2019
Just like in Central Visayas, the new officer-in-charge of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Wednesday said he might appoint women police chiefs in Metro Manila.
In an interview with reporters at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas said women make up 15 to 20 percent of police manpower.
“I have done that in Region 7… why not utilize them in operation aspect,” Sinas said.
Police Col. Royina Garma was tapped to be Cebu provincial director in 2018.
“Why relegate them to administrative if they could share or do their job for operational competing (with) their male counterparts? I know they could do it,” he added.
Sinas said women police officers “are also good in investigation and supervising our people.''
Last September, the Central Visayas police under Sinas' leadership launched on the "first-ever" all-women police station in Siquijor.
The police station in the Municipality of Maria was named as "Mariang Pulis". It was headed and managed by 21 female police personnel.
Sinas replaced Major General Guillermo Eleazar who was promoted as the chief of directorial staff. Ella Dionisio/DMS
