Next in rank to take charge posts at BuCor, Palace says

The next in rank would take charge of the posts at the Bureau of Corrections following the suspension of some of its 30 officials, Malacañang said on Friday.
"The instruction of President (Rodrigo Duterte) is the next in rank will takeover the positions of those suspended," said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo in a radio interview.
Duterte has not chosen the replacement for former BuCor chief Nicanor Faeldon, who was fired over the release of inmates convicted of heinous crimes under the law on good conduct time allowance.
Apart from Faeldon, some 30 BuCor officials were ordered suspended by the Office of the Ombudsman while investigation against them have been ongoing.
Panelo said the probe against the BuCor officials would continue to determine all the corruption activities, especially inside the New Bilibid Prisons.
"Heads will be rolling other than the suspension made by the Ombudsman," said Panelo, also the chief presidential legal counsel.
Some BuCor officials allegedly used the GCTA law as their milking cow by processing the release of some inmates even if they were not qualified. Celerina Monte/DMS
