NTC says Mislatel-China Telecom group is third major telco player

The National Telecommunications Commission ( NTC) en banc on Monday said the consortium led by Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy’s Udenna Corp and China Telecommunications is the new third key telco player.
In a three-page order, the NTC confirmed the Mindanao Islamic Telephone Company Inc., ( Mislatel) with Udenna Corp., Chelsea Logistics Holdings Corp., and China Telecommunications Corp. as the new player in accordance with Sec. 7.6 of Memorandum Circular 09-09-2018 and Sec. 9.8 of the Invitation to Participate.
The NTC order said Mislatel has a period of 90 days from date of confirmation to submit to the agency documents , including the roll-out plan and performance security.
Mislatel will also secure its certificate of public convenience and necessity and radio frequency after the 90 days period.
The NTC will assign the frequencies 700 megahertz, 850 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2010 MHz, 2.5 GHz, 3.3 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 10.5 GHz to the new major player.
“If they could not accomplish in 90 days they will be disqualified,” Acting Information and Communications Technology Secretary Eliseo Rio told reporters. DMS
