NWRB says ‘Tisoy’ may boost water level in Angat
December 2, 2019
The National Water Resources Board (NWSB) said Typhoon 'Tisoy' might help improve water level in Angat Dam.
In an interview over ANC on Monday, NWSB Executive Director Sevillo David Jr. said 'Tisoy' is expected to boost the dam's water flow.
"Despite concerns about the effect of typhoon 'Tisoy', it might benefit our water supply," David explained.
David said current water supply in Angat Dam is not enough to put an end to the water crisis in Metro Manila.
"For now, this level is not that that comfortable yet if we are talking about the security of our water supply for the whole year until the next,"
As of 6 am, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported a 0.10 meter decrease in Angat Dam's water level within the past 24 hours and is at 189.07 meters.
It is still 60 meters short from the normal water high level of 212 meters.
The dam provides raw water to west and east zone concession areas in Metro Manila. Rotational water service interruptions are still being implemented by both Manila Water and Maynilad due to continuous plunge in the dam's water levels. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
