OCD starts distributing PPEs to COVID-19 referral hospitals

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) started on Thursday sending of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) sets to COVID-19 referral hospitals.
Undersecretary Ricardo Jalad, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director and OCD administrator, said the first batch of approximately 900,000 PPE sets bought by the Department of Health (DOH) for health workers arrived at Villamor Air Base Tuesday morning.
"The first tranche of PPE sets bought from China were immediately transferred the next day, April 1, 2020 to Office of Civil Defense in Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City as the agency will lead the distribution to various hospitals," he said.
Jalad said together with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the OCD began distributing around 12,000 protective equipment supplies to several COVID-19 referral hospitals early Thursday morning.
"2,780 PPE sets were delivered to San Lazaro Hospital, 2,000 to Philippine General Hospital, 770 to East Avenue Medical Center, 2,800 to Lung Center of the Philippines, 2,590 to Dr. Jose Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium, and 1,100 to Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center," he said.
"Each set has goggles, coverall, head cover, gloves, shoe cover, surgical mask, and a surgical gown," he added.
Jalad said according to the health department "the remaining PPE sets are expected to arrive between April 6 to 24, 2020." Robina Asido/DMS
