Officers part of revamp were not ”remiss in their job”: Gamboa
October 23, 2019
Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa clarified that officers who were affected by the recent revamp in the Philippine National Police (PNP) were not ''remiss in their job''.
“I would like to clarify though, that those affected by the revamp are not in any way remiss in their job. They are all competent officers equally responsible for all the successes we have so far,” Gamboa said in a statement.
The statement was delivered by Major General Guillermo Eleazar, chief of directorial staff during the PNP-Highway Patrol Group’s turn over ceremony.
Gamboa said the organization needs to use their expertise in other areas “and give other officers the chance to prove their worth.”
The OIC said his decision for a revamp from the national headquarter down to the regional levels created “clamor, approval, disapproval, and even discontentment”.
“It evokes both positive and negative emotions,” he said.
“It was part of the consequence which I am ready to face,” he added.
Gamboa asked for the organization’s understanding as it was the best option he can do to comply with the guidelines of the president.
He then congratulated the new chief, Police Brigadier Dionardo Carlos and the former head of HPG, Police Brigadier General Eliseo Cruz, for the hard work they have put into their respective areas of responsibility.
Carlos replaced Cruz who served as HPG chief for almost two months.
“These changes may put their loyalty and commitment into test. But I believe their love for our country and dedication will serve as their guiding buoy to accept the challenge and ascent both as winner,” said Gamboa.
Gamboa urged all the HPG personnel to welcome and give their full support to the new director. Ella Dionisio/DMS
