An Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was arrested on Friday for attempting to smuggle six kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth P40.8 million in the country.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency National Capital Region (PDEA NCR) Regional Director Joel Plaza said Marie Ruzol Guillermo, an OFW who came from Cambodia, was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 past 4 am.
"Her baggage was subjected to 100 percent physical examination and inspection, where Customs examiner found white crystalline substances inside two handbags which were inside the backpack further concealed in a tea foil pack," said Plaza.
Authorities seized around six kilograms of white crystalline substance or suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride amounting to P40,800,000. The evidence were turned over to PDEA laboratory for analysis.
