One die, three hurt as truck falls on a cliff in Negros Oriental

One person died while three were injured after a truck fell on a cliff in Negros Oriental Monday afternoon.

According to a report from Bayawan City Police Station, the incident transpired around 3:40 pm at Sitio Balaobalaoan, Barangay Nangka in Bayawan City.

Initial investigation showed the truck, which was driven by Jemar Araneta, 28, was loaded with different merchandise and travelling from Bacolod City.

Upon reaching a curve and a descending part of the road, the truck allegedly incurred mechanical malfunction as the driver lost control of its brake which caused the vehicle to fall into the cliff..

Cops from the Bayawan City Police Station brought the victims to the nearest hospital. But a certain Jake Librando was declared dead on arrival by a doctor. 

Other victims, including the driver were brought to Bacolod City Hospital for further treatment. Ella Dionisio/DMS
