October 8, 2019
The Philippine Air Force (PAF) began using several UH-1H spare parts donated from Japan to restore seven helicopters. "A team from the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing inspected the spare parts on October 05, 2019 and were accepted and delivered to the end-user unit on October 06, 2019," Major Aristides Galang, PAF spokesman, said Tuesday. "The spare parts, including main rotor blades; tail rotor blades; and, tail rotor driveshaft will be used in the restoration of seven UH-1 helicopters of the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing which commenced on October 07, 2019," he added. Galang said ''restoration and maintenance of UH-1 aircraft are vital in performing missions such as Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response, transport, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance activity of the PAF." Galang said other spare parts will be on reserve for future maintenance or repair of their helicopters. "Other spare parts will be utilized to a readily available UH-1H to maintain and increase higher operational readiness of the PAF," he said. The P200 million (424 million yen) worth of UH-1H helicopter spare parts and maintenance equipment donated by the Japanese government through the Japanese Ministry of Defense to the Philippine Air Force were accepted on March 19, 2019 at Clark Air Base in Pampanga.
