Palace says rule of law to prevail over rape complaint vs Quiboloy
December 23, 2019
Malacanang assured on Monday that the rule of law will prevail in the rape complaint against evangelist Apollo Quiboloy despite his friendship with President Rodrigo Duterte.
In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the Palace would not intrude into a private matter involving Quiboloy.
"The rule of law in this country always prevail regardless of who are involved," he said.
Quiboloy is a known close friend of Duterte and reportedly one of his financiers when he ran for president in 2016.
"We will not intrude into that private domain," Panelo said.
A former member of Quiboloy-led religious sector accused him of raping her in 2014. The pastor's camp denied the allegation. Celerina Monte/DMS
