Palace suspends work in gov’t to mark Family Week celebration
September 23, 2019
Malacanang allowed government workers under the executive branch to go home early on Monday to spend more time with their family.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, by the authority of President Rodrigo Duterte, issued Memorandum Circular No. 65 suspending work from 3:00pm onwards.
"Pursuant to Proclamation No. 60 (s. 1992) which declared the last week of September of every year as Family Week, and in order to afford government workers more time to spend with their families on this, the first day of the 27th National Family Week Celebration, work in government offices in the Executive Branch on 23 September 2019 is hereby suspended from 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon onwards," the MC read.
However, Medialdea said those agencies whose functions involve delivery of basic and health services, preparedness and response to disasters and calamities, or performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services.
The Palace left to the discretion of other branches of government and independent commissions or bodies whether to suspend work.
Other local government units, such as the City of Manila, and state universities and colleges also suspended their work and classes, respectively. Celerina Monte/DMS
