Parade of men high heels set in Ilocos Norte March 2
February 28, 2020
LAOAG CITY -- A parade of men in high heels will start Ilocos Norte’s celebration of Women’s Month, said Provincial Population Program Officer Janet London.
On March 2, “Taray Sapatos de Takong,”, provincial capitol male employees will wear high heels for a kilometer or so, in front of the Puregold Laoag, straight through the J.P. Rizal Street and ending in front of the Provincial Capitol.
A Mardi Gras-themed “Kinni–kinni” (swaying hips) parade joined by the different local government units in Ilocos Norte will highlight the celebration on March 18.
Men, who are 25 years old and above, will be the muses for the “Kinni-kinni” Parade. ''They are expected to wear at least two inches high heels except for wedge,” added London.
London said they will ''aim to sensitize men.''
“At least if men wear heels, they will understand the plight of women every time they wear these types of footwear. Aside from that, they will be aware of the responsibilities of women, including our domestic role,” she said. DMS
