PCG inspects two new H-145 twin engine copters
February 26, 2020
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant Admiral Joel Garcia inspected the two newly-acquired H-145 light twin engine helicopters at their headquarters in Manila on Wednesday.
Commodore Armand Balilo, PCG spokesman, said after the inspection Garcia joined the maiden flight of one of the two new helicopters.
"H-145 is a 4-tonne-class twin-engine helicopter equipped with high frequency radios, emergency flotation gear, fast roping, cargo sling, search light, and electro-optical systems to perform critical missions including search and rescue, medical evacuation, maritime patrol, and maritime law enforcement," he said.
Balilo said the procurement of H-145 from Germany is part of the light to medium multi-purpose twin engine helicopter acquisition project of the PCG.
"The PCG personnel who will man the newest helicopters have finished their comprehensive training in Germany last year," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
