PCG plans to recruit 4,000 officers and enlisted men by yearend

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) plans to recruit 4,000 officer and enlisted personnel before the end of this year.


"PCG Commandant Vice Admiral Joel Garcia encourages natural-born Filipino citizens who are physically and mentally fit, as well as of good moral character to apply as a PCG officer or enlisted personnel by processing an application in any Coast Guard District across the country," said Capt. Armando Balilo, PCG spokesman.


Balilo said those who are interested to apply as a PCG officer should have a four-year college degree, a professional civil service eligibility, and a passing mark at the PCG Aptitude Battery Test (ABT) for commissionship.

The PCG has 13,000 personnel, said Balilo.

Applicants for PCG enlisted personnel shall have at least 72 completed units or a six-month Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) course certificate as a proof of skill or expertise in a field of practice,' added Balilo.


"He or she also needs to pass the PCG ABT for enlistment," he added.


Balilo said the entry level salary for a commissioned officer with a rank of ensign is ₱ 51,000 while an enlisted personnel with a rank of apprentice is ₱ 37,000.


He said pplicants for commissionship or enlistment shall submit "accomplished PCG ABT application form and personal information sheet that are downloadable at the PCG Recruitment Branch Facebook page, photocopy of transcript of records, photocopy of certificate or diploma, and photocopy of Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) authenticated birth certificate" to the nearest Coast Guard District for processing


"Schedules for examination are on 30 November 2019, 07 December 2019, and 14 December 2019 in identified Coast Guard Districts across the country," he added. Robina Asido/DMS
