The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued a passenger who jumped overboard a vessel off the waters of Sibuyan on Monday.
The PCG identified the rescued passenger as Carlito Cataylo, 53, of Balayan, Batangas.
Cataylo reportedly jumped overboard while the boat left Manila for Dumaguete approximately 8.3 nautical miles off Cresta de Gallo Island of Sibuyan on Sept. 30.
"Upon receipt of information from Mrs Marilyn Paucho, 60 year-old wife of the man overboard, the vessel immediately maneuvered and conducted search and rescue," the report said.
"At around 01:57 pm, the victim was successfully rescued by PO1 Richard Montiano PCG, duty sea marshall of the vessel," it added.
According to PCG, the investigation showed Cataylo was under the influence of liquor when the incident occurred.
"The team immediately turned over the victim to the medical team on board for medical attention," it stated.
"Around 2 pm, the vessel resumed its voyage bound for Dumaguete," it added. Robina Asido/DMS
