PDEA confiscates P102 million of illegal drugs in front college in Bacoor

March 6, 2020

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron Aquino on Friday said they were able to confiscate around P102 million worth of illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in front of a college in Bacoor City, Cavite.

Aquino said the PDEA Special Enforcement Service (SES) arrested a certain Ronnie Menodiado along Molino Boulevard corner Aguinaldo Highway, in Talaba 4, Bacoor City, Cavite around 1 pm last Thursday.

“Menodiado, based on our investigation, is the main source of shabu in Cavite and the whole of Region 4A (Calabarzon),” Aquino said.

“His group also distributes shabu in NCR areas and in Zamboanga City,” he added.

Aside from the suspect, two companions were also arrested during the operation.

Operatives recovered from 15 kilos of suspected shabu each packed inside “Guanyinwang” Chinese tea bags with a total street price of P102 million.

Aquino said they discovered a new modus operanda where the pusher will park his vehicle at a designated place. After leaving, the main source of the drugs, with a duplicate car key, will put the shabu inside the pusher’s vehicle.

“The pusher will come back and retrieve his car with shabu in it,” he said.

PDEA chief said they also noticed these suspects are frequenting colleges.

“We are still investigating if they are selling shabu to college students in the region,” Aquino said.

He added this operation is actually an offshoot of the March 3, 2020 operations of PDEA SES where they arrested Junior Sakilan Utto and his wife Misreen Suraik Utto in Barangay Molino 3, Bacoor Cavite.

Seized during that time were two kilos of suspected shabu worth P13.6 Million.

During the investigation, the suspects revealed their source of illegal drugs was Menodiado.

Cases of violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the suspects.  Ella Dionisio/DMS
