An intelligence officer of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) was shot dead when he engaged policemen in a buy-bust operation in Sibalom, Antique on Tuesday. Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, spokesman of the Western Visayas police, said Wednesday the suspect, who was Macario Grasparil, 46, PDEA Intelligence Agent 1, drew his gun after a policeman told him he was being arrested after Grasparil sold one sachet of shabu for P500. Grasparil pulled out his .9mm caliber pistol but other policemen shot him. He was brought to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Inspector Clark Philip Dinco, Sibalom police chief, said there were reports Grasparil is involved in recycling drugs he seized in previous operations. "He was involved in illegal activities before the time of President Duterte according to our confidential informant," Dinco said in a phone interview, Probers recovered 11 sachets of shabu, P1,302 in cash and the buy-bust money from Grasparil.
