Peso closes P53.025:$1, but PSE index down slightly

The peso improved against the US dollar but the Philippine Stock Exchange index finished lower on Tuesday.
The peso ended at P53.025 from Monday's P53.22 on heavy volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines. Volume rose to $983.78 million from $742.25 million on the previous day.
The main stock index closed at 7, 180.11, down 33.33 points. In the broader market, there were 103 decliners, 82 gainers and 52 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 1.15 billion shares worth P6.77 billion from Monday's 2,.82 billion shares worth P22.56 billion.
Most traded shares were Ayala Land, down five percent to P38; SM Prime, 1.93 percent down to P33; Melco Resorts, unchanged at P7.11 and ISM Comununications, up 25 percent to P4.11. DMS
