Peso, PSE index close higher

The peso ended higher against the US dollar along with the main stock index on Thursday.
The peso settled at P50.97 from Wednesday's P51.13. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.219 billion from $1.207 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index closed at 8,258.05, up 24.57 points. In the broader market, there were 116 gainers, 79 losers and 52 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 975.57 million shares worth P5.6 billion from Wednesday's 903.06 million shares valued at P5.31 billion.
Most active shares were led by BPI, up P2.10 to P92; Ayala Land, up 15 centavos to P52.35 and SM Prime, up 43 centavos to P38.30. DMS
