Philippine, Malaysia to conduct maritime training activity in Central Visayas

The Philippine and Malaysian Navy is set to conduct a maritime training activity in Central Visayas this month.
Lt. Commander Neil Rafael Ybera, public affairs officer of Naval Forces Central, said the activity will be done within the area of Cebu and Negros Oriental from August 5 to 9.
“It involves bilateral training in naval special operation in order to strengthen the relationship and enhance mutual cooperation of both navies through development of combined operational doctrines, practices and naval tactics,” Ybera said.
“The exercise in conducted by the two navies thru the conduct of theoretical exercises during the preceding year and actual applications during the continuing year. Hosting of the activity is interchanged every two years by the navy partners,” he added.
Ybera said the Royal Malaysian Navy vessels participating in the exercise are set to arrive at Captain Veloso Pier, Naval Base Rafael Ramos, Brgy Looc, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Sunday.
He said the opening ceremony will be held at NFC Function Hall, Headquarters, Naval Forces Central, Brgy. Looc Lapu-Lapu City on Monday. Robina Asido/DMS
