Philippines, Indonesian navies hold 2nd intelligence conference

The Philippines has been hosting an intelligence conference with the Indonesian Navy as part of the two navies' commitment to further strengthen their cooperation.
Philippine Navy public affairs acting director, Lt. Commander Maria Christina Roxas, said Manila is now the host for the four-day 2nd PN- Tentara Nasioanal Indonesia Angkatan Laut (TNI-AL) Intelligence Conference (INTELCON), which kicked off on December 11.
TNI-AL delagates are headed by Rear Adm. Angkasa Dipua, Assistant to the Chief of the Indonesian Navy for Security and Intelligence.
"This goodwill visit reaffirms and further strengthens the already strong relationship between the two navies. It fortifies the PN’s firm commitment of maintaining good relationship with other foreign navies," Roxas said.
The Indonesian Navy delegates called on Flag Officer In Command of the Philippine Navy, represented by Commander Philippine Fleet, Rear Adm. Giovanni Carlo Bacordo.
"The Philippines and Indonesia are both founding members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and bastions of maritime diplomacy with many common grounds shared a long history of maritime cooperation because of mutual regional security threats, ranging from natural calamities to piracy and terrorism," Roxas added.
