Philippines third highest in measles cases during 12-month period: WHO

The Philippines has the third most number of measles cases over the past 12 months, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
Based on WHO's Global Measles Update, the Philippines was ranked third with 45,847 measles cases after Madagascar with 150,976 cases; and Ukraine with 84,394 cases from July 2018 to June 2019.
The WHO report shows the Philippines is ranked third during January to June in 2019.
The report showed that the country had 36,253 measles cases recorded; after Madagascar with 127,454 cases; and Ukraine with 54,246 cases.
Last February when the Department of Health (DOH) declared a measles outbreak in several parts of the country.
The health department said parents hesitated to allow their children to be vaccinated after the scare on the Dengvaxia dengue vaccine.
"There have been almost three times as many cases reported to date in 2019 as there were at this same time last year," said WHO. DMS
