August 28, 2019
The pilot test for the national ID system will roll out next week, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia said in a TV interview on Wednesday.
"This will facilitate (financial inclusion) because even those who don't have any IDs now, those in rural areas, they'll be able to access these facilities - the provate sector, banking facilities or the government," Pernia told ANC.
Pernia said the government expects that by 2022 Filipinos will be registered in the national ID system.
"Our target is by the end of the administration, practically all Filipino including OFWs and resident aliens will have been registered or enrolled in the national ID system," he explained. Cristina Eloisa Baclig/DMS
