Pìñol offers to resign, Go says
June 27, 2019
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol has offered his courtesy resignation to President Rodrigo Duterte, incoming Senator Christopher "Bong" Go said on Thursday.
"With the best interest of the Department of Agriculture and its stakeholders, may I request that I be relieved from my present position as secretary of Agriculture and reassigned to whichever agency you believe I will be effective, including the Mindanao Development Authority or MinDA," said Piñol in a letter sent on Thursday to Duterte, a copy of which was read by Go in a media interview prior to his oath-taking as a new senator.
He said Duterte has yet to act on Piñol's offer to quit from his post.
Go, Duterte's former special assistant, said Piñol apparently offered to resign because he felt he was not effective anymore to hold such position amid criticisms against him. Celerina Monte/DMS
