PNP admits it is affected by ”ninja cops” issue
September 26, 2019
The Philippine National Police (PNP) admitted the whole organization is being affected on the recent issue being thrown at them regarding so-called "ninja cops".
"Affected but not necessary low morale... we are already used to it," said Police General Oscar Albayalde, PNP chief, in an interview with reporters Thursday.
"Somewhat. The PNP is affected here because we know that majority of us are really working hard," he added.
As the father of PNP, Albayalde said they fully understand that being intrigued is part of public service.
"We are workers of the government and we should be able to be strong and firm in all allegations thrown at us," he said.
Despite issues, Albayalde urged his men to continue their campaign against illegal drugs and let the public decide on their actions.
"They will be the one to tell us on what we are doing and not just only one single person," he said.
Albayalde again thanked the public after their "war against illegal drugs" obtained an "excellent" satisfaction rating citing the 82 percent rating released by the Social Weather Stations survey.
"We want to thank the community for appreciating our campaign against illegal drugs," said Albayalde.
The issue on the "ninja cops" resurfaced during the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's budget hearing last week where it was revealed some police officers sell seized drugs to alleged drug lords. Ella Dionisio/DMS
