PNP can recommend revoking licenses of those proven part of CPP front

Police General Oscar Albayalde on Monday said they can recommend the revocation of professional licenses of those who will be proven members of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) front organizations.

The chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP)said in an ambush interview with reporters said they can recommend the revocation once they gather  evidence some supporters are linked to the rebel group.

“If it’s proven, if there is an evidence linking to, whether directly or indirectly supporting the rebellion. Remember rebellion is directly or indirectly, it’s just the same,” Albayalde said.

He added they can also file charges against those alleged member of the CPP.

“They might think that they are the only one who can file a case. Just like a lawyer, if you abuse your profession you can be disbarred. Same with this,” said Albayalde.

“Remember your license is not a right, it’s a privilege given to you by the state. Remember that. It’s not a right. Your license, it’s not a right… it could always be revoked by the state also if you abuse your profession,” he added.

It can be recalled that the partylist group Alliance of Concerned Teachers files a complaint against the Philippine National Police for its alleged profiling of their members.

Albayalde said police are not doing profiling but an intelligence effort to maintain security.

“This is part of our national security, part of the mandate of the state to protect its citizens from the enemies,” he said.

Asked about the motion for reconsideration filed by the group before the Court of Appeals, the PNP chief said it’s their right.

“It was dismissed by the court. I don’t know if it will still be entertained (by the court). I think these are all… although it’s their right. It’s also our right to file a case against them. If we will be able to get, as I said, evidence on their participation on rebellion, we will not hesitate to file a case against them,” he said.

“We are in the process of getting physical evidence against them,” Albayalde added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
