May 9, 2019
Philippine National Police ( PNP) General Oscar Albayalde on Thursday said though they are 100 percent prepared for Monday's midterm election he cannot say if it will be foolproof.
“ The only time that we can say that our preparations are foolproof is after the elections,” Albayalde said during his visit in General Santos.
The PNP chief hopes the election will end without any major incidents.
“Hopefully with all the prep that we already made since last year, I hope we can prevent any violence that may happen but with regards to preparation, we are 100 percent ready,” said Albayalde.
The Philippine National Police deployed around 160, 000 personnel to secure the elections on May 13.
The PNP has arrested around 5, 316 individuals; confiscated 4, 459 firearms and 42, 430 weapons in law enforcement operations and checkpoints. Ella Dionisio/DMS
