August 30, 2019

The Philippine National Police- Criminal Investigation and Detection Group ( PNP-CIDG) filed a complaint against former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and several others for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.

In a text message to The Daily Manila Shimbun, Police Lieutenant Colonel Grace Madayag, CIDG spokesperson, said they referred Guillermina Lalic Barrido's case to the Department of Justice last August 15.

In a document obtained by reporters, Barrido sought the help of CIDG to file a complaint against Trillanes, three persons and some John Does for violation of Article 267 of Revised Penal Code for Kidnapping/ Serious Illegal Detention.

She claimed that she was detained at the Convent of Cannossian Sisters located in Makati City from December 6 to December 21, 2016.

Barrido said she was transferred at Holy Spirit Convent in Quezon City to force her to sign a "ready-made" affidavit to ruin the reputation of not only of President Rodrigo Duterte but also his administration.

The affidavit which was executed last April 7, 2017 stated the respondents created a propaganda to discredit and destroy Duterte.

The affidavit also contained allegations against the president such as murder, corruption, existence of Davao Death Squad and illegal drugs which were supposed to be posted online by a certain Myra.

Barrido said the respondents participated in the demolition job until the later part of 2016.

She provided the CIDG pieces of printed screen shots from her cellphone.

Barrido said she decided to file a complaint after Peter Joemel Advincula alias Bikoy surfaced and filed sedition complaint against the alleged personalities.

The CIDG said her affidavit has an ''impression of similar modus operandi to incite sedition.''

"In fact, the affidavit executed by Guillerma Barrida, which was executed earlier than the complaint of Peter Joemel Advincul alias Bikoy has an impression of similar modus operandi to incite sedition," it said.

Barrido is a Davao-based businesswoman who also appeared on public in 2017 to claim  Trillanes wants to use her in putting the president into bad light. Ella Dionisio/DMS
