PNP dismayed some cops still involved in illegal activities
December 20, 2018
The head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) is dismayed that despite internal cleansing efforts, there are still members of the police organization being arrested for unlawful activities.
“It is disappointing that until now there are policemen who are involved in illegal activities," said PNP Director General Oscar Albayalde.
Last Dec. 14, a policewoman assigned to the Anti-Transnational Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit was apprehended in an entrapment operation after she received a Louis Vuitton bag
worth P34,000, a P2,999 watch and P50,000 in marked money.
Albayalde earlier said they are watching some 1,700 police officers suspected to be linked to narcotics and other illegal activities.
He directed police commanders to take measures to ensure their subordinates only conduct lawful operations.
“We will professionalize our service and organization,” Albayalde said. DMS
