The Philippine National Police ( PNP) is eyeing “zero-incidents” for the 30th Southeast Asia Games.
During the send-off ceremony in Camp Bagong Diwa, Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa reminded the 17, 734 men of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) “courage” is an attribute people often ascribe to those in the armed forces, the police force and other public safety agencies who take personal risks to save lives and property.
“Even athletes whose courage compels them to take big risks to win a game also win our admiration,” Gamboa said.
Gamboa said the 30th SEA Games calls for active participation and collaboration of every concerned entity not only to ensure its success but to deliver the best SEA Games and surpass expectations of participating countries.
“In coordination with the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) and concerned government departments, bureaus, instrumentalities, and the private sector, we have conducted series of meetings, planning workshops, contingency planning sessions, tabletop, and simulation exercises to increase the capacity and capability of all deployed personnel and to ensure operational readiness as far as safety and security of the SEA Games athletes, officials, VIPs, spectators, and including our deployed security personnel are concerned,” he said.
“This international event will be another opportunity for all of us especially in the law enforcement sector to showcase our best practices in planning and managing sport events at par with world-class standards,” he added.
Gamboa also encouraged every commander to ensure service support to all deployed personnel on the ground particularly their morale and welfare, also, to make sure they have necessary tools and equipment prior to their deployment.
“For team PNP, it is extremely important to keep in mind that unity and teamwork are the mantras that we should always carry to ensure success in any given mission,” he said.
“To end, collectively we should work hard to ensure 'zero incidents' during the 30th SEA Games. Borrowing the theme of 2019 SEA Games, Together we will “Win as One”,” he added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
