PNP eyes more female cops in Camp Crame

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is eyeing on deploying more female cops in Camp Crame, the national headquarters.
During a conference with the Ateneo De Manila University in Camp Crame on Monday, Police General Archie Francisco Gamboa said they will give it a try to deploy more female cops as it gives a different degree of affection and much meticulous when it comes to administrative duties.
“Probably we have to revisit (the deployment). Maybe we should deploy all women in the national headquarters because they are good in administrative (job)… We are going towards that direction… we believe deploying all women force will have an effect in the whole organization,” Gamboa said.
“Maybe we should create an all-women directorate (office),” added the PNP chief.
Gamboa said since National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Debold Sinas created an all-women police station in Siquijor when he was director of Central Visayas regional office, some mayors in Metro Manila requested they also want to an all-women police station.
“It did good because it is much better when you are facing the mother instead of father…. There is a different in the degree of affection,” Gamboa said.
“When General Sinas assumed office in NCRPO, there are few mayors who actually requested that… they want to give a try for an all-women police force,” he added.
On Monday, the NCRPO opened their all-women Basic Internal Security Operations Course for female cops at Sinas’ second creation of all-women police office which will be the Bonifacio Global City Police Community Precinct in Taguig City.
In terms of recruitment, Gamboa said they are over-compliant with what the law demands in recruiting female cops.
“The law demands is only 10 percent and we are actually more than 10 percent because whether we like it or not, and a fair warning to all men, there are more female police applicants than male applicants,” he said.
“But we have our own balances in terms of duties and responsibility especially down to police station and mobile force companies… we will balance this,” Gamboa added.
The PNP- Highway Patrol Group last September also deployed patrolwomen along EDSA. Ella Dionisio/DMS
