The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday said it has not received any communication with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in regards with their investigation into alleged extrajudicial killings.

"As far as the PNP is concerned, we received none," PNP Director General Oscar Albayalde said at the Foreign Correspondents of the Philippines Prospects Forum in Makati City.

Albayalde said they are always cooperate with any inquiry in relation with the Duterte administration's war on illegal drugs.

"We have been cooperating with the inquiries of the Senate, Congress but then again we have also to take the cue from the Commander-in-Chief," he said.

On the annual report of ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda released on December 6, 2018, she said the country has been under preliminary investigation since February 8 this year and received a total of 52 communication in relation to the situation.

"The preliminary examination focuses on crimes allegedly committed in the Philippines since at least July 1, 2016, in the context of the so-called war on drugs campaign launched by the government," Bensouda said in her four-page annual report for the Philippines.

She said over 12,000 people were allegedly killed, with 4,800 deaths taking place during police operations.

But on the part of PNP, Albayalde said a total of 5,760 drug personalities died during police operations. Ella Dionisio/DMS
