The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Friday said they have not received any reports high-ranking police officials are allegedly involved in illegal drugs.
This came after President Rodrigo Duterte said in a speech in Russia two generals are "playing with drugs".
Though Duterte did not mention which organization, the PNP is facing issues after their chief, Police General Oscar Albayalde, is being tagged as "protector" of so-called ninja cops involved in drug recycling.
In a statement, Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson said they are ready to face a possible investigation.
"The PNP is ready for any possible hearing or investigation to give light that two general remain involved in illegal drugs," Banac said.
"Aside from the Senate investigation, we did not received any report that high-ranking officials are allegedly involved in drugs," he added.
The PNP assured the public they will remain loyal, profession and discipline despite the challenges.
"And our campaign against illegal drugs and criminality will remain relentless," he said.
"All who will violate the law will face charges and we will not let any rogue cops to remain on our ranks," Banac added. Ella Dionisio/DMS
