August 9, 2019
The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Friday said they will leave it up to the "sound discretion" of state lawyers the presentation of the evidence against Vice President Leni Robredo in a sedition charge.
Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, the PNP spokesman, made the statement after the camp of Robredo filed a motion at the Department of Justice to order the PNP -Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) to provide the respondents with all its evidence and affidavits of witnesses, in connection with sedition charges filed against her and 35 persons.
"We leave that matter to the sound discretion of state lawyers who will present the case in court," Banac told The Daily Manila Shimbun.
"The respondents are given all the right to seek legal remedies under the justice system," he added.
In an eight-page motion, Robredo is asking the DOJ’s approval for production and copying of evidence.
According to her lawyers, they were only provided of a copy of Peter Jeomel Advincula's sworn affidavit. Ella Dionisio/DMS
