PNP may not hold Christmas parties
October 21, 2020
Amid the ongoing coronavirus disease pandemic, the Philippine National Police (PNP) may not conduct their traditional Christmas parties this year.
"I am actually contemplating on no Christmas party of the PNP. They will understand that. Instead of using the funds for the Christmas party we will be giving it out for COVID patients or maybe for the COVID fund," PNP Chief Gen. Camilo Pancratius Cascolan said.
"Secondly we have the food bank. The food bank is there with a lot of sponsors of the PNP. If in December, we are still in a (general community quarantine (GCQ) or (modified) MGCQ at least we have the food bank to go around and we would be able to distribute food that is coming from the PNP and the sponsors," he added.
Cascolan said the PNP will also "rationalize" the deployment of its forces during the Christmas or holiday season.
"We have to rationalize the deployment of our forces. When we say proper deployment of forces and resources we need it in the areas where the deployment of police is really needed. We should not just deploy police there, the police should also know what he is doing and what he is looking at.
"There might be an upsurge of criminality or even maybe terrorism that's why we need to be prepared to all of these things," he added. Robina Asido/DMS
