PNP on full alert in areas affected by ‘Tisoy’

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday raised full alert status on all police units in Luzon and Visayas ahead of Typhoon 'Tisoy'.

In a statement, Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa, the PNP Officer-in-Charge, placed all Luzon and Visayas-based units on full alert to ensure availability of resources and personnel for possible disaster response operations in areas threatened by Tropical Cyclone 'Tisoy', including venues of the 30th SEA Games.

Gamboa also activated the National Headquarters 1st Level Battle Staff to ensure effective command and control of all PNP disaster response operations.

In affected areas of jurisdiction of police regional offices, the respective Disaster Incident Management Task Groups had been activated and Regional Reactionary Standby Support Forces and Search and Rescue units have been constituted.

The PNP Special Action Force, Maritime Group, Highway Patrol Group, Police Community Relations Group, Health Service, and all Regional and Provincial Mobile Forces are also placed on full alert to ensure they are quickly available for possible disaster response and rescue operations.

Gamboa also instructed PNP provincial, city and municipal offices and stations to undertake road clearing operations for debris in coordination with LGUs and DPWH, especially along national highways and major thoroughfares to allow movement of emergency vehicles, troops, equipment, supplies and market commodities.

At the PNP National Headquarters, the PNP Critical Incident Management Committee (CIMC) chaired by Police Lieutenant General Camilo Pancratius Cascolan, Deputy Chief for Operations, thru the PNP Sub-Committee on Disaster Management (SCDM),

The Director for Police Community Relations (DPCR) is monitoring the situation in areas affected by the weather disturbance thru the NDRRMC and the PNP Command Center.

Gamboa called on the public in affected areas to stay safe, alert and informed, and heed  orders of authorities particularly for pre-emptive evacuation that may be enforced.
