PNP orders Health Services to prepare in curbing dengue

Police General Oscar Albayalde ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) Health Services to prepare after the declaration of a national dengue epidemic, according to PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Bernard Banac.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, Banac said the PNP Health Services was given a directive to cooperate with local hospitals to raise public awareness.

"Related to the declaration of national epidemic with regards to dengue. Our PNP chief Oscar Albayalde released an order to Health Services to be prepared in preventing dengue fever," he said.

"He also ordered the entire health services to fully cooperate with the local hospitals to raise public awareness," he added.

According to Banac, they have a standby blood supplies and their personnel are willing to volunteer to donate blood.

Banac said the PNP regional offices were given directive to check the health of their personnel and their families so it will not affect their duties.

"As of now, there are no police personnel reported of suffering from dengue," he said.

He said police personnel and their families can go to their regional health centers and clinics if they were infected by dengue.

"And if there is no access or police health centers are far, they can go to the nearest hospital and the PNP organization will pay for their expenses," said Banac.

Banac said the PNP joins the "4 o' clock" habit of cleaning and fumigating camps and police community precincts nationwide.
