PNP orders regional offices to be alert over attacks on frontline personnel
July 13, 2020
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Archie Francisco Gamboa alerted all regional offices following recent attacks against police frontline personnel.
"Following three recent incidents of armed atrocities against police frontline personnel engaged in public safety and law enforcement operations, I am alerting anew all police regional offices to implement security measures against possible hostilities by threat groups and lawless elements," Gamboa said on Monday.
"We strongly condemn the armed assault at a Quarantine Control Point in Misamis Occidental that wounded four police personnel, the roadside IED attack on police responders in Maguindanao that killed a policeman and wounded several others and the ambush shooting of a police patrol vehicle in Taytay, Palawan just yesterday morning," he added.
On Sunday, two police officers, including the acting police chief of Dumaran Municipal Police, were fired upon by still unidentified men while onboard a patrol car in the vicinity of Ibangley, Barangay Abongan in Taytay, Palawan.
Gamboa said despite the incidents, the PNP will continue to perform its mandate in enforcing the law and protecting the people.
"These incidents will not diminish our resolve to enforce the law and protect the communities against crime and lawlessness," he said. Robina Asido/DMS
