February 11, 2019
Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Albayalde on Monday said they ''are ready'' for the 2019 mid-term elections, as the campaign period for the senatorial and partylist candidates starts on Tuesday.
“Well, we are ready on our security preparations,” Albayalde said in an ambush interview at Camp Crame.
“With regards to preparations. I think we are prepared, even the deployment of our personnel. We are just polishing their names but with regards to preparations, we are very much prepared,” he said.
The PNP chief said coordination with Commission on Elections (Comelec) and Armed Forces of the Philippines continues.
He said validation on the list of election hotspots is going on based on parameters given by the Comelec.
“Actually there is an additional (hotspot). We have a new list. We will be providing the public with a new one,” said Albayalde.
As of this time, the PNP did not record any election-related violent incidents.
“Hopefully this will continue and no election-related violence will be recorded,” said Albayalde. Ella Dionisio/DMS
