The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Monday said they are ready to arrest the members of the Communist Party of the Philippines ( CPP) once they have the information on their location.
“The whole PNP organization is prepared for any information we will receive on the whereabouts of every member (of CPP) and we are ready to serve their warrant of arrest,” said Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac, the PNP spokesman, in a press briefing.
Banac said they remain alert as some CPP members were out of the country.
He urged them to surrender to clear their name.
Banac said they will seek help with their counterparts abroad to arrest those who have standing warrants of arrest.
“That is our standard procedure. We will inform our counterparts abroad regarding Filipinos with standing warrant of arrest… we need to inform them because they are also concern with their security,” said Banac.
On September 6, Manila City Regional Trial Court Branch 32 has ordered the arrest of Communist Party of the Philippines founding chairman Jose Maria Sison, his wife and 36 other members of the organization for mass murder.
In a resolution dated August 28, a copy of which received by the Department of Justice, Judge Thelma Bunyi-Medina issued a warrant of arrest against Sison and his co-accused implicated in the so-called “Inopacan massacre”, a purge allegedly carried out by the CPP leadership against its members accused of various offenses in Leyte in 1980s.
No bail was recommend for the accused. Ella Dionisio/DMS
