June 6, 2019
The Philippine National Police ( PNP) on Thursday said they have recorded 60 validated election-related incidents since January.
“Compared to 2016 which recorded a total of 133 incidents, the 2019 figure of 60 incidents saw a 55 percent reduction,” said Police Colonel Bernard Banac, PNP spokesperson, in a statement.
Of the 60 validated incidents, 51 happened before May midterm election, eight during the election and one after the election.
From January 13 to June 6, PNP said 23 were killed, 46 injured and 44 unharmed.
Of the total 113 victims, 85 were victimized before the elections, 16 during the election and 12 after the election.
In an earlier statement, Banac said all incidents they received underwent validation as some incidents happened during the election period but not all are election-related. Ella Dionisio/DMS
